Before I Was a Mom

This is an awesome poem. Those of you who are mom's will love this.

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at nightwatching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy,the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Bathing Beauty

This is my little bathing beauty. She LOVES water and anything to do with it. It makes me excited for Spring Break and Grandma/Grandpa's pool. The girl has at least three swimming suits so she'll be soaking in style!

Cambria was peeking her face through the bars at me this morning. I guess it's time we lower the mattress!!

Amen!!

I was reading a post from Mckmama's blog (see the button on the right) and this confession she has about her marriage brought tears to my eyes.
Quoted from her blog:
God's will for my marriage is not for me to try to manufacture some false sense of equal partnership with my husband, in that he must meet my needs and honor me and make me happy before I will feel willing to reciprocate the same for him.

I am beginning to strive to speak nicely to my husband even when he is not doing the same. I seek to respect him even if he is not acting respectable. After all, I enjoy being loved even when I am unlovable!

And God always loves us even when we are unlovable.

This is so true!
Todd and I have been talking a lot about marriage, lately. It's amazing to see that this is a talk that other people have. We came to this realization recently together, as well. She recommends the book Sacred Marriage and that her and her husband read it together every night before bed. This sounds like a good idea to me. I want to continue perfecting my marriage, too!

Cambria turned 9 months yesterday.  She can do so much! She can
-Hold a cup
-Suck through a straw (and actually get something)
-Knows mama from dada
-Can tell us she wants water (wawa)
-Is easily entertained by herself
-LAUGHS so much
-Can feed herself cheerios
-Likes to feed herself with her spoon
-Can stand up balancing on a chair, etc.
-Can balance on her feet for a couple seconds
-Scoots around on her butt
-"Talks" to the dogs
-Plays peek-a-boo (especially with Todd's male swimmers!)
-Still not interested in crawling!!!

Happy Baby

We had a wonderful weekend. Cambria and I went to see her grandparents/my parents. My mom and I took her with us to go eat and shop in Boerne. She did really good....until a massive blowout! Since it was a historic house that the restaurant was in, there was not a changing pad! So, I had to get creative. Cambria also had fun with Grandpa and his dogs. He thinks she's a budding veterinarian.
Yesterday, Cambria turned 9 months! We went to a BBQ and she had a lot of fun, especially on the swing. She loved it! Her daddy is convinced she needs one now. She also liked sitting on the trampoline when the two two-year-olds were jumping on it. She kept laughing at it! It was another awesome weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day! We woke up and Todd had flowers and chocolate covered strawberries for me. Cambria got a singing balloon which she LOVED. We then went to Todd's swim meet to watch one of his swimmers compete in finals for Regionals. She placed 3rd but they only take 1st to state. She looked good and luckily is only a freshman so she'll get there. We then went for a Valentine's Dinner at Pei Wei and got Cold Stone ice cream afterward. Then we came home and watched movies. Todd's other gift to me was watching Cambria while I went to a movie with a friend Sunday night. It was a nice day!

Bruiser

This weekend was a little uneventful since I was sick and in bed for most of it. It took about 5 days and now I finally feel like me again. I didn't want Cambria to be bored so I made a temporary bed on her floor and played with her. Well, it was during this that she got her first bruise. It's below her left eye. If she's like her mother, this will be one of many. She was playing with her ball popper and dove for the elephant and their heads collided. Unfortunately, the elephant's is hard plastic. She cried for about 5 seconds until I picked her up and put her in my lap. Then she wanted back down to play again. She's a tough one! She also had another fun moment this weekend. We were taking a bath together and she pooped in it!! I guess she will be bathing alone from now on!!
